Nir Hod: The Life Left Behind







The Life Left Behind is the first West Coast, U.S.A. solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures by the Israeli born, New York-based artist Nir Hod, which is the idea particularly resonates in Hod's latest abstract painting series.According to the author Michael Slenske, "This paradox between surface and substance, polish and patina, capitalists and despots is what drives – and has always driven force of Nir Hod's work, and it has always been. Hod subverting Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by mirroring abstraction, this abstraction is used by the laborious J.M.W. Turner artist through the chromization technology first developed by the US Navy in 1939Turner was cancelled. Then, he degraded this fetish application through air pressure, water, ammonia and various acids, thereby creating surface tension between new industrial applications and ancient petroleum technology. These new canvases are filled with paintAnd chrome, the result is a perfect, subtle balance between surface elegance and painting depth.
